Hey,

So as we all know, football and all other sports have been cancelled or postponed for the foreseeable. This is thanks to the current pandemic we find ourselves in.

This, for me, is very strange as I have been going to football for years like many others. Unlike, during the summer break when we all have holidays and such to occupy us until pre-season, now we have nothing to focus on, and you realise just how important football and sports are to me and many others.

English football was initially postponed for three weeks, and now until the end of April. The FA and other governing bodies believe that the current season can be finished. However, we are only at the start of this and with many weeks ahead of where it will inevitably become worse. How can the governing bodies think that the current season can finish when the fans who after all the most important thing in football aren’t able to watch the games due to the government’s advice of social distancing and isolation. For once, I believe that the current season shouldn’t finish and the governing bodies for European football should null and void this season entirely.

The clubs should look after the fans during these difficult times and reduce the burden on them when the majority are unable to work due to having to isolate and should defer renewals of season tickets for the foreseeable until this pandemic is resolved and we know when next season will actually start.

The club’s social media teams and players are trying to keep their fans amused though with several playing matches of naughts and crosses and connect four instead of actual matches and players making isolation training videos to share with the fans which is much appreciated.

Times are tough at the moment, but one thing is for sure, when football does come back, we’ll let out a big sigh of relief as life makes a turn towards the normal again. I certainly can’t wait to see that view again. Hope everyone stays safe and remember no matter what team you support, football is one big community so if you need to talk, reach out to this great community we have.
