Whistlestop trip to Zurich!
It was still dark when we headed to Belgrade airport, it was time for my 2nd flight of the day! Once arriving we headed to air Serbia to check in both ourselves & the wheelchair! It was quick and easy and before long we were heading through the departures!
We stopped to pick up a magnet for the fridge at home, I like to buy one everywhere we go! The time seemed to go really slow! Before long though we were heading on our plane to Zurich!
The flight was really good & the staff so friendly, they gave us all a free water, I was at this point sleep so I’d be ready for my trip to zurich!
Upon landing, we got off and then we’re left to navigate the airport ourselves, it was fine but a new traveller might have found it a little daunting! We stopped off for some food and decided what we would do.
We ended up getting a Uber (I tend to use them when I go abroad)! Top tip for anyone getting an Uber from Zurich airport you have to get it from departures which is upstairs! The uber cost €30
Driving through zurich was beautiful, Switzerland is such a lovely country to visit!
We pulled up at the Fifa World cup museum and it was €14 for 2 of us as it was discounted due to my disability. There was 3 floors to explore and it really is a must for football fans old of young. The whole place was really accessible and I really enjoyed it. Adam enjoyed the football pinball it was so interactive! All In all it really was a great place to visit I was really impressed.
We then had a walk around the area including the Fifa hotel, a large park & generally looking at the architecture before heading for drinks & sweets for the trip back to the airport!
Adam wanted to check out the public transport accessibility so we headed back to the airport on the train! Now your ticket is open for 1 hour so you need to decide when you want to travel!
The train cost was about €7 each one way (I think) and no need to book ahead for help! The train had flat access & a wheelchair on suitable doors! We literally rolled on! The trip took about 25 minutes and we got to see more of Zürich through the train!
Arriving back at the airport we checked in with EasyJet who were great! We then were left to explore the airport, it’s huge!
We ended up watching the sunset on the observation area at Zurich airport we got in for free but I think there’s a cost & be aware there’s security to go through as your literally by the runway! It was amazing seeing the planes up close watching them landing & taking off as well as ending our time In Zürich watching the sun set.
We were soon buying a magnet to remind us of our time in Zurich before heading to our gate, via a train that was also accessible!
The plane trip home was a bit bumpy near England but wasn’t the worse I’ve experienced! Then it was the long drive back to Manchester!
Next blog.. Chelsea away!
