Introducing joe – Burnley disabled football fan
Hey guys,
1st of April brings a month of blogging! And also a month where I’ll be joint blogging with my good mate joe who’s a Burnley fan & disabled just like me! So I thought I’d introduce you all to joe on day 1 .. later this week, we’ll have a “United v Burnley as a disabled fan” blog looking at the difference!
Name : Joe
Club I support: Burnley
Disability: Cerebral palsy
Joe isn’t just a fan he’s involved in Burnley’s independent disabled association volunteers at Burnley foundation with coaching.
What else do you do in football? I volunteer at Burnley foundation doing wheelchair footie sessions on a Tuesday, disability sessions on a Wednesday and a kids football club on a Saturday. This helps joe keep a structure in his life which helps his mental health, well go more into this on another blog.
I also helped set up the independent Burnley disabled supporters association as a founding member with Peter.
What’s your best moment in footballs to date? Joe says it’s the 2013/2014 season when they got promoted for the first time finishing second in the championship, Joe adds that he’d been lucky as a Burnley fan to see more good times than bad.
Joe adds that we meet on a disabled supporters Facebook group and that we found we had lots In common so our friendship grew.
Thanks joe for agreeing to do these blogs
