Hey guys,

At the end of the 17/18 season most people didn’t go into the normal lull as it was the World Cup summer! For me going into the tournament I’ve got to say I wasn’t very excited and was adamant I wasn’t going to watch it because I needed a break after a long season following Man Utd! Some might say how are you a football fan if you wasn’t excited? But Id traveled around with united attended 41 games home & away .. my body was aching and my mind was tired!
The World Cup however brings the best players to the fore front it’s no secret I’m a Ronaldo & Ramos fan away from Man Utd. Then of course you have the great footballing nations of Brazil, Argentina and Germany all in Russia however what you won’t see is the great footballing nation of Italy and Netherlands. However we are seeing new countries such as panama and Iran!
We also have England and as I’m English my country! However I personally didn’t have much hope for them, after years of disappointment can you blame me!
However saying all of that, my brother who’s younger then me loves the World Cup and I got swept along! We are now on Tuesday 26th and I’ve got Nigeria v Argentina on the TV and I’ve not missed a game, well I have as they have had 2 on at the same time but I’ve watched the highlights of the other games in bed!
This leads me on to England nicely! The first game no much expectation was around, a new coach in Gareth Southgate and a young team, many long standing players have retired or not included (in my opinion Jack Wiltshire should have been included!) leaving a young team. A team of young players however that Southgate knows from his time managing the younger England teams, ultimately he knows and trusts these guys. We also have a new captain In Harry Kane!
So we come to the first match versus Tunisia and we win with an Injury time winner from Harry Kane! The country start to believe in this young team. Then the media release a picture of what looks like a team for the next game and the country isn’t impressed! Then we go in to the game v Panama and win it 6-1 highest ever win for England in a World Cup! The country is going wild, football is coming home people are singing. We play on Thursday v Belgium it’s a game that will decide on who finishes first and who second. Harry Kane will also want to add to his goals as he’s currently the top scorer at the World Cup!
Now let’s not get carried away, we are likely not going to win the World Cup but a positive tournament will be good for this young England group. However knowing England they will get abuse from all outlets for letting us down, but they aren’t letting us down they are doing us proud.
