Good evening, me again!
It’s a cool and windy night here in north Worcestershire I’m sat here with my heating on and pain relief gel sinking in to my joints. I’m thinking about watching Manchester United on the TV after a busy day of appointments I missed my lift, my own fault thinking I was super women and could navigate appointments, emotions, hair cut and travel to Manchester .. it’s not possible never do that again!
the weekend has passed now and well it is partly why I’m writing this blog, friendship from a far so let’s get into it.
This past weekend the Caribbean and parts of America was hit by a fierce hurricane named Irma at category 5 it hit luckily it did weaken after making land fall. I spent the weekend watching CNN on sky with horror and dancing worry in my stomach I mean I’m thousands of miles away but my friends are not. Three friends in particular where going to be hit and we had no idea how hard, one lives in upper Florida and the others Georgia / South Carolina.
I’m happy to report they are all fine one still has no power but has got word she’s doing alright. My other two friends have power and are starting to clear up. The lower end of Florida & the Caribbean are not so lucky and my thoughts are with you guys.
A natural disaster though it brings many emotion, panic, worry and being thousands of miles I was in no position to help all I could do was hope they’d be ok and send encouraging messages, I think I typed “stay safe” more times in those few days than ever before. But more than anything else it really concreted how close I am to my American friends, I love them like family.
You see it doesn’t matter if your on the other side of the Atlantic or the world if you have a friend hold on tight to them because friendship is precious to us all and you can make it work even with 5 hours or 8 hours time difference!
There’s nothing better than waking up to a msg from your American buddy 5 hours behind you or saying night to your pal in Seattle as your day is starting.
Friendship is so special.
