good evening!

So today I thought I’d take you through some steps I take before a holiday!

Excitingly I’m off to Madrid in just under a month! So I’ll base it lightly on this trip ..

1. Decide where I want Togo .. I have a long list!

2. Research airlines who fly there and where from (I’m flying from Luton with easyJet)

I’ve never flown with easyJet before with the wheelchair so I’ll let you know how I get on, I have however flown from Luton before and it’s not a bad airport.

3. Book flights and inform of access needs, I was surprised easyJet allows you todo this on the booking it’s self!

4. Get a guidebook .. it’s not an accessible one but general Madrid guidebook as they always give lots of hints.

5. Hotel research .. this can take weeks! I always do a general search first and see what I like and then I have to start to look at the practicalities.

  • Is it close to things? If not transport?
  • Access into/ out of the hotel
  • Wheelchair accessible rooms
  • Do they do twin rooms or connecting rooms?
6. Transport to and from airport on location (Madrid seems to have a few options including bus & train (I’m still researching on access issues such as steps!)
7. Make a list of where I want to visit and then research the accessibility of these
8. Local transport .. is the underground accessible? Apparently not!
9. Car park at the airport .. why is it always so low down on my priority lol when I need to make sure the shuttle bus is accessible!
10. Internet research on the place in general (Madrid in this case!)
11. My packing list .. don’t forget the medication Vicky!
12. Outfit picks!
Finally enjoy the build up fill in my memory book and dream of lots of ice cream (well in this case!) oh I nearly forgot keep looking up the weather, I’m so British!
This is a universal list of things I do for a European trip and none football game related!
