As yesterday was brought with a lockdown in the UK, my head was a bit wow what, so I decided I wouldn’t blog as I honestly wasn’t in the right headspace. However, today I am here with a new blog! It’s something a little different too. An author chat. I spoke to the lovely Lindsay who has written a book called “if the slipper fits”. It’s book 3 of a series. You can buy the book online. The book is centred around two characters, Emma, a rabbit & Pinky, a piglet who both dance! The third most important character is Bella, a Persian a cat! For me, the book shows friendship & of course, dancing. It also shows dance is for anyone.
I asked Lindsay a few questions here’s what she said,
What age is the book aimed at?
Age 4-8
So if you a have youngster that enjoys dance I’d definitely recommend this book.
What did you most enjoy about writing this book?
Lindsay said that she enjoyed being able to draw upon her own experiences as a dancer to write the book.
I think this really comes through that she has dancing experience.
Do you have a favourite character?
She says it was too hard to pick but Emma & Pinky of course!
What was your inspiration for writing the book?
Lindsay said her inspiration was to share the magic of dance with young readers. Along with showing the lessons that dance can teach you.
I also asked her some more general questions on the being an author here’s what she had to say.
What inspired you to become a writer?
I’ve always loved reading and the desire to write came naturally to her when she was around 10 years old. She wanted to recreate the same adventure, creativity and escape that reading gave her. She also wants her readers to to have a connection with the characters who she’s created along with being able to relate to them.
Any advice for aspiring writers?
She says that her advice is to read as many books as possible, in particular in a genre that you want to write in. Study & take classes in creative writing, work on grammar, along with a regular writing schedule. Also connecting with other authors for support & advice. Finally, she says that joining a writing group be it locally or online can help a lot.
