Match day report – psg at home
Good evening,
I know I normally post my match day blog earlier but after the events last night Ive been expressing my feeling to Man Utd and took some time out as well as replying to messages on twitter from followers, much Thanks to you all.
So a Tuesday match day! I started my day by taking a little nap, although I couldn’t sleep with as my cat decided he wanted to be my best mate! I then got up and had my medication before getting ready!
Once ready I started my journey to Manchester, I was speaking to Ben about the match and general stuff, I do enjoy our chats, he’s a great lad.
The traffic wasn’t the best In places but we got through and parked up before we headed down to the ground, I had a message from Neil who was optimistic of the result!
Being a European night we all had to go in via AE1 so that was different! I met up with Andy and Nigel for a brief chat and then Helen who had kindly brought me a birthday card & gift to the game, thanks Helen!
Me, Jamie, Matt & shay made our way to our seats but just before I went out I meet up with Mef for a brief chat about the game! Before I knew it I was in my seat.
I have to be honest I was feeling a bit nervous about the match after seeing videos of the PSG fans in town, but of course you have to trust the club with your safety.
The first half went off relatively fine, PSG fans singing & banging that drum, but seemingly good natured.
At half time, I caught up with Andy, Ann Marie & Helen for another chat before heading back out for the second half.
The second half was a disaster. PSG scores and that was it all he’ll let loose. The flares & smoke bombs had already been going off. But once they scored the fans went mental, the PSG fans were hanging off & shacking the netting which resulted in them breaking the netting so we had no protection from the flying seats and other missiles. Then the pole came down now I don’t know where the pole went or how it came down but dam it was a large metal pole. This resulted in them pushing forward resulting in disabled fans having to move some left and some moved to other parts of the platform. At the final whistle I made a for a sharp exit after everything behind us.
The thing is we are vulnerable fans Weather you want to admit that or not that’s the reality. We were put in unimaginable danger yesterday in my opinion. Why should we as disabled fans be placed in such damaged at our home ground, do we not deserve to feel safe and enjoy the match and not be worried about what might be thrown towards us?
I’ve not really said before on my blog before but this isn’t the first & won’t be the last time we have stuff thrown at us at a home match and I am disgusted in the club for not protecting vulnerable adults & children at our home ground.
It was lovely to see my friends last night pre match & half time.
The journey home was very quite & didn’t take too long in comparison to some nights I got in just before 1am.
Thanks to Ben for keeping me company with messages on the way home and listening to my moaning, it’s handing speaking French eh!
I woke up this morning to a message from Neil to see if I was ok and see what had happened to, thank you much appreciated.
Finally what really warmed my heart was waking up to the hundreds of messages/ retweets/ likes on my story and seeing how I was after last night, it means a lot to me to have such caring followers.
Thanks also to The Red Army guys for your on going support.
Recent months I’ve really felt part of the united community and felt like people are starting to see what’s going on with disabled Man Utd fans and it’s very welcome and heartwarming, keep the fight & faith guys.
We move on to Monday in the FA cup now.
