As some may know I had my light switches all lowered a few years ago to give me more independence which was great. However due to the progressive nature of rheumatoid I have worsened and could no longer reach my switches let alone actually use them. Seemingly nothing could be done, so I had to look for an alternative.
I was told of WIFI bulbs which interested me.
So I did some research with my brother and came up with a WiFi light system called, Phillips hue system.
I ordered a starter pack on Friday afternoon, which included three bulbs (living room, hallway and bedroom) a dimmer and the hue hub, it arrived on Saturday morning via Royal Mail.
Saturday morning my brother came down and unpacked the box, he then replaced my old bulbs with the new smart ones. He then connected the hub to my modem. I then downloaded the Phillips hue app on my phone and iPad. Peter had to scan the code and we was all up and running.
I can say “Siri lights on” and all my lights come on!
Or I can use the app to simply turn the lights on/off and even experiment with colour.
I’m still learning and adjusting the lights for me but it was so quick & easy to install and simple to use, it really will improve my independence.
