Match day blog – Southampton at home
Hi guys,
A Saturday 3pm at old Trafford is quite the treat, we never seem to get many of those these days!
Today was a little bit different because I had to check everything was packed ready for Paris before I could get ready as I was handing over my stuff to Andy so we only have 1 bag rather then we’ll, multiple!
Once that was done it was time for my meds! Now I had been talking to Shaun & Adam who both predicted 4-0! After last week and not asking Anthony his prediction v Liverpool I thought I’d ask him and he gave quite the prediction so here goes, 2 – 0 with a pogba penalty on the 34th minute and rashford with the winner on the 78th minute!
I had a good chat to Ben which was lovely as ever and he predicted 4-0! I predicted 3-1 united. Are you seeing a pattern here everyone was super optimistic and thought there would be plenty of goals!
Suitcase in the car, my brother predicted 2-0! We went to my dads and on the journey I had a chat to Mef and Helen, I’d planned to see them both later! We met up with Jamie, his dad & Shay and were on our way to Manchester! I chatted to Jamie’s dad and everyone had some food & drink!
I text Neil about half way through the journey and he predicted 3-0, now Neil like everyone else didn’t think Southampton would score however I did! Now me & Neil had a bit of a catch up it had been a while and I’m looking forward to him and I catching up about his trip to Paris via Lille, only Neil! It was great to catch up and promises to ring soon and meet up at a game, will we make it before the end of the season!
I also had a good chat to Gary and wished him a safe journey for that full 10 minute journey!
In truth I fell asleep and managed to get 30 minutes sleep before pulling up to park! As Jamie got everyone out and ready I was waking up, I’d not slept well the previous night!
We had a slow walk / wheel down to the stadium I think it takes about 10 minutes. We went down to Ae1 to show Jamie’s dad where Togo in and then I had a chat to our DLO about Paris, legends match and all other things! It’s so nice to have a DLO who’s approachable and chatty plus he genuinely supports Man Utd!
We then went in via AE2 and was greeted by lovely stewards on the gate! We then made our way to the ability suit and I got a team sheet! It was lovely warm in there, I saw Nathanial who said hello, it’s always nice to see you! Nathanial does a video prediction pre premier league games in the united disabled group on Facebook and he predicted 3-1!
We went outside to our seats and said hello to the people I’ve sat next to now for 2 full seasons and I still don’t know the people on my left!
Southampton fans were loud and singing “yellows yellows” because they were wearing a yellow shirt! Southampton scored In the first half 1-0 it ended and Ben text that wasn’t in the plan! I had every faith we’d get back in it!
Half time came and I was looking forward to catching up with Ann Marie & Helen, I knew I’d not see them for basically a month.
Half time chats were had with our DLO, Ann Marie & Helen. We met Helen’s dad who was lovely. Dan shouted hello, haha! I was feeling optimistic for the second half although not all of us was! We said bye to the DLO and a brief hello to Nathanial and the head of security, see you in France! Then it was back to the seats for the second half!
We scored an early goal and what a goal it was from Pereira, I text Ben it’s on, Jamie was off down the platform cheering! I thought I was going to get my prediction! Then Lukaku scored! Then Southampton scored and the lad came over to the away fans celebrating, in fairness it was a decent free kick! Thankfully lukaku scores again making it 3-2 but then pogba missed a penalty!
It wasn’t a bad game the ref wasn’t great! The atmosphere was decent at points I could hear the united fans singing “ole’s at the wheel!”
We met up with Jamie’s dad & shay and headed out the stadium! We met up with Pete on the walk/wheel back!
Once at the car we waited for Andy handed over my suitcase and said see you Monday night!
The journey home wasn’t too bad! Text Ben when I got home saying I was back as I knew he was out! Then I text Neil we congratulated ourselves for knowing we’d score three In the match!
Before long it was time for bed, tomorrow I had a lot of stuff today as Monday I’m having new radiators & boiler sorted before heading down to London ready for the Paris adventure to start!
